March is here!\u00a0 The days are getting longer and spring will arrive before we know it. To help you through the remaining cold, dark days of winter, Bobby\u2019s Bike Hike<\/a> has compiled 25 of our favorite things about spring in the Windy City to get you prepped and ready to put your parka back in storage. <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. St. Patrick\u2019s Day <\/b>– Love it or leave it, the river dye is empirically cool and a totally unique Chicago tradition.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Patio seating at bars and restaurants <\/b>– Though it may feel like we\u2019re forcing it at the beginning, there is nothing better than the first meal enjoyed outdoors after a long winter trapped inside.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Bike commuting <\/b>– Mad props to the brave souls who bike to work 365 days a year, but for the majority of bike commuters, March tends to be when the two wheels come out of storage.<\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/li>\n
  4. Post-work daylight – <\/b>There is something so, so sweet about having daylight after 5 p.m. The lengthening days lead to going out more, exploring new parts of the city, and being more productive after work. <\/span><\/li>\n
  5. The return of greenery<\/b> – When the trees start to bud, the flowers start to bloom, and the grass peeks out from under the melting snow, the entire color palette of the city changes for the better.

  6. Street festivals – <\/b>The lineup of spring festivals in Chicago ranges from Baconfest<\/a> to the\u00a0Chicago Wine Festival<\/a> to Chicago Zine\u00a0Fest<\/a>. There\u2019s something for everyone on every side of the city.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Leisure time in the parks –<\/b> Lunch breaks at the River Theatre! An afternoon stroll through the Lurie Garden! Saturday picnics at the Alfred Caldwell lily pond! The options are endless.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. The reopening of Riverwalk restaurants and bars<\/b> – We\u2019re so excited about the return of The Northman beer and cider garden<\/a>, and the open patio at City Winery<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Cubs games <\/b>– Wrigleyville bars, rooftop bleacher parties, and ice cold beer await.

  10. White Sox games<\/b> – The South Side sluggers host a great party! Take the Red Line down to 35th to join the fun!<\/span><\/li>\n
  11. Beach days<\/b> – Even before the water is warm enough for swimming, Chicagoans will spend those first balmy days in the sand.<\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  12. Bike Tour Season <\/b>– After a winter hibernation in January and February, Bobby’s Bike Hike resumes their longstanding bike tour season<\/a> with tours catered for families, adults, and couples.\u00a0 Everyone will enjoy something on offer.<\/span><\/li>\n
  13. Walks on the 606 –<\/b> The elevated freight line conversion park is the perfect place to meet with friends or family and go for a stroll.<\/span><\/li>\n
  14. Seasonal beers <\/b>– As the temperatures climb, the local craft breweries try out hoppier, fruitier, lighter, or more tropical recipes. No matter your taste, there is sure to be a warm weather brew for you.<\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/li>\n
  15. Farmers markets –<\/b> Popping up all over the city, local farmers markets and the fresh food available offer a welcome change from our wintertime hibernation eating and shopping habits.<\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/li>\n
  16. Day trips to the Botanic Garden –<\/b> Located a few miles north in Glencoe, the Chicago Botanic Garden <\/a>is one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in Illinois. Perfect for a Mother\u2019s Day walk or romantic daytime date.<\/span><\/li>\n
