Ride at a relaxed pace along scenic, coastal paths, view iconic Art Deco architecture on world-renowned Ocean Drive, check out the mansions of the rich and famous on Star Island (*Star Island is seasonally adjusted for comfort: we visit Star Island November-April months. May through October we have an extended visit to South Pointe Pier), and much more, as we enjoy the marvels of Miami Beach on two wheels. Meet at charming Caffe Umbria.
Begin your journey at the cozy Caffe Umbria, where you can purchase a caffeinated beverage if you’d like, while waiting for your fellow adventurers. Once gathered, we’ll head over to the nearby Shoppes at West Avenue to collect our bikes and gear up for the day ahead.
Catch a glimpse of Biscayne Bay.
After checking in and suiting up, we’ll take a quick ride to a nearby park with stunning views of Biscayne Bay, the Miami skyline, and boats of all sizes. You’ll learn about the native tribes who once lived here, and hear the fascinating story of how Miami Beach became the glamorous hotspot it is today.
Cruise to Maurice Gibb Memorial Park.
Next, we’ll pedal north along South Beach’s west side to Maurice Gibb Memorial Park, named for the legendary Bee Gee who called Miami Beach home. With another breathtaking view of the bay, we’ll discuss the Venetian Causeway, a bridge that played a key role in connecting Miami to Miami Beach, and touch on the city’s musical legacy, from the Bee Gees to today’s artists.
Pedal through South Beach to the Holocaust Memorial.
From here, we’ll bike east, through South Beach’s charming residential streets, before stopping at the impactful Holocaust Memorial. Along the way, you’ll learn how Miami Beach’s Jewish community helped shape the area and made it what it is today.
Remember Jackie Gleason.
We’ll continue to The Fillmore, once home to the Jackie Gleason Theater, and share stories about the comedian and his deep connection to Miami Beach. You’ll hear how his show, filmed here, helped solidify Miami Beach’s place in entertainment history.
Ocean Drive and Art Deco delights.
We’ll take a short ride down the beachwalk before we cruise along to stunning Ocean Drive, where you’ll see the Betsy Orb, marvel at the Art Deco architecture, pass by the bustling Lummus Park, and view the lavish Versace Mansion.
South Pointe Pier and Park.
We’ll cruise down to the southern tip of Miami Beach and explore South Pointe Pier and Park. Walk out onto the pier to catch the breeze and gaze out at the Atlantic Ocean, while learning about Miami’s role in World War II, the significance of Fisher Island, and the impressive operations at Port Miami, the busiest cruise port in the world.
Star Island bound!
Finally, we’ll ride across the MacArthur Causeway to Star Island, where we’ll get an up-close look at the luxurious mansions of celebrities like Rick Ross, Gloria Estefan, and more. You’ll hear fun facts and stories about the famous residents of this exclusive island. *Please note: For comfort and enjoyment, we only visit Star Island November through April. For May through October, we have extended visit to South Pointe Pier and the Atlantic Ocean.
