Our Bikes, Bites & Views tour of Miami Beach features water views, history, culture and tasty selections of the great flavors of Miami! It’s a two-wheeled adventure covering the essentials of Miami’s most popular waterside town and its historic neighborhoods; the perfect way to savor the best of the area in a single afternoon!
Miami Beach is home to Miami’s most popular beaches and one of its most celebrated neighborhoods, South Beach, known for its glamorous Ocean Drive lined with historic Art Deco architectural treasures, Gianni Versace’s famous mansion and so much more.
South Beach came into its own in the 1980s after New York City developer Tony Goldman turned onto Ocean Drive and recognized the potential of the Art Deco properties along the palm-lined, oceanside road. At the time, it was a rundown neighborhood populated mostly by Jewish retirees and Cuban immigrants. He decided to buy a bunch of those properties and renovate them and when he did, magic happened. The area eventually attracted modeling agencies, celebrities, and a nightlife that put most cities to shame – sleep optional.

Plus, when you embark on our Miami Beach Bikes & Bites Tour, you know you’ll be burning calories as you pedal through our incredible, tropical scenery — so feel free to load up your plate!
Meet at charming Caffe Umbria.
Meet your local, expert guide at one of South Beach’s charming coffee houses, Caffe Umbria. Feel free to purchase a caffeinated beverage to perk you up while you wait for your fellow guests to gather, before we go grab our bikes and helmets at the Shoppes at West Avenue just around the corner. We definitely recommend you NOT purchase food. There will be plenty on the tour!
Catch a glimpse of Biscayne Bay.
After we check in, procure our bikes and fasten our helmets on, we’ll take a short hop over to a delightful little park along nearby Biscayne Bay to catch a glorious view of this crucial waterway, the Miami skyline and passing boats of all sizes, while learning about the native tribes that inhabited the area, as well as the founders who made Miami and Miami Beach into glorious tropical retreats hosting the world’s busiest cruise port and attracting the elite from all over the world as visitors and residents.
Cruise on up to Maurice Gibb Memorial Park.
We’ll start pedaling north up the West Side of South Beach to Maurice Gibb Memorial Park, named in honor of former Bee Gee member, Maurice Gibb who lived much of his life in Miami Beach. We’ll get another great bay view, learn about the nearby Venetian Causeway, which runs along the route of the Collins Bridge, the first bridge to Miami Beach built in 1913, and talk a bit about the Bee Gees and other great artists who recorded music in Miami.
Pedal through the neighborhood to the Holocaust Memorial.
Next, we’ll head eastward, pedal through some of South Beach’s residential neighborhoods, and visit the Holocaust Memorial. Miami and Miami Beach have historically been havens for Jewish people, and we’ll discuss how Jews helped shape the area.
Remembering Jackie Gleason.
We’ll continue east to The Fillmore, the former site of the Jackie Gleason Theater. We’ll discuss comedian and Honeymooner’s star Jackie Gleason’s life in Miami Beach, including his run on The Jackie Gleason Show filmed here.
Are you hungry yet?
Our first food stop will be a quick stop to get some fuel for the day. And nothing is better to start your day then some Fresh Empanadas. Having a 72% Latin American population in Miami-Dade County, it’s no wonder they call us “The Gateway to Latin America,” and we have the benefit of some of the best Latin food in the world. We’ll enjoy some great, Latin empanadas in a casual environment.
Head up the Atlantic coastline.
Onward to the beach! We’ll spend some time on an uninterrupted ride up the beachwalk, shortly leaving South Beach, and entering the calmer Mid Beach neighborhood. We’ll catch some glimpses of the beach, the Atlantic Ocean, and our iconic lifeguard stations, each one uniquely designed and painted in different, bright colors.
Pit stop at Indian Beach Park.
If it’s time for a Nature break or to refill your water bottle, we’ve got you! As we leave the beachwalk, we’ll refresh ourselves at Indian Beach Park, and avail ourselves of the water fountains and restrooms. All kinds of cool birds like to hang out in the trees around this area, so keep your eyes open, birdwatchers. If you haven’t seen any of our plentiful, little green parrots yet, this may be the place!
Pizza, pizza!
This is a food tour, of course. We know you want to eat, and you will definitely be fed. We’ll take a brief ride along the docks beside the Intracoastal, a 3,000 mile long, man-made waterway that stretches all the way down from Massachusetts, on our way to Lincoln Road, and grab some delicious, gourmet pizza at Italian Trattoria.
Boats, docks and, yes, more water views.
If you come from a land-locked locale, you definitely won’t mind more water views. We’ll spend some time pedaling south along the Intracoastal. Boats, birds, bikes. You know the drill. Anyway, they all go so wonderfully together. We’ll work off a few calories, and work up an appetite, as a bonus!
Ocean Drive, a strange orb, Art Deco and more bites.
We’ll get off the beach a bit, cruise down Ocean Drive, check out The Betsy Orb (a curious structure which is just best to leave as a surprise), ride beside Lummus Park, marvel at and discuss the Art Deco architecture that gives Ocean Drive its signature style, drive by the former Versace Mansion, and stop at a couple of restaurants in the area for more delicious bites.
South Pointe Pier and Park.
We’ll get back onto the beach drive as we head south to South Pointe Pier and Park. We’ll walk out onto the pier, catch a breeze, gaze out into the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, discuss Miami’s role in World War II, Fisher Island and Port of Miami – the world’s busiest cruise port! We’ll continue driving along the water through South Pointe Park, and maybe catch a glimpse of one of our gigantic cruise ships heading into the ocean or back to port!
Key Lime Pie, marina side.
We’ll drive by the Miami Beach Marina, check out some yachts and other seacraft, and stop at Monty’s Sunset for our dessert. You probably know that Key Lime Pie is a South Florida delicacy, and what better setting than waterside?
Star Island bound!
We’ll continue off the marina drive, over the bridge onto MacArthur Causeway and cross over to Star Island, a man-made island created by Carl Fisher, where we’ll check out the magnificent homes of J. Lo., Gloria Estefan. P. Diddy and more! *Please note: Visiting Star Island takes place from November through April for seasonal comfort and enjoyment. From May-October, we still see Star Island, we just don’t ride to it.

We’ll head back over the other side of the bridge and come in for a smooth landing at the garage where we started, park the bikes, collect our helmets, say our goodbyes, and send you off with sweet memories of the tastes you savored of our incredible tropical paradise on this delightful ride with Bobby’s Bike Hike.
The beach, bikes and bites tour will conclude with some suggestions for the rest of your visit and other great places to eat in the Miami area.

Gogo Fresh was started on South Beach in 2004. Gogo Fresh is known for their delicious homemade Argentinian empanada recipe, which has been handed down from the owner, Osmar’s, family from generation to generation. All savory and sweet empanadas are baked to order, and as fresh as they get.
La Cucina is in the heart of this amazing restaurant. This is where they prepare fresh pizza dough every morning, but also where they make all the desserts you find in the window. They have placed this space at the heart of the restaurant, visible to everyone, all day long. If you come at the right time, you will see the chefs do everything before your eyes! Those on our VIP beverage plan will enjoy a choice of either an Aperol spritz or a mimosa on this welcome break from our wonderful ride.
We’ll enjoy “Pressure Cook” chef Ralph Pagano’s take on the popular Mexican street food, the taco, at this vibey, dreamy spot in the lobby of the Dream Hotel. Those on our VIP beverage plan will enjoy a tropical burst of Naked Taco’s tequila pineapple smash shot!
Havana 1957 brings the flavors and feel of Havana in the glory of its pre-revolutionary days. We will sample their delicious ropa vieja (a simmered beef dish in a delectable sauce) or simmered veggies with a side of tostones. Those on our VIP beverage plan will enjoy an authentic mojito, perhaps the most delicious and revered rum-based cocktail of Cuba.
Enjoy breezy, tiki bar vibes at this Miami Beach Marina standby on the bay. Sink your sweet tooth into Monty’s delicious Key Lime Pie – a dish everyone should try while they’re in South Florida.
